Attending psychic medium workshops offers a unique opportunity to deepen understanding of spiritual connections and experience firsthand the ways mediums communicate with the unseen. Over the past few months, I participated in three distinct workshops led by experienced

mediums at different spiritualist churches in Derbyshire. Each event provided fresh perspectives on mediumship, trance demonstrations, and the role of spirit communication in personal growth. This post shares insights from these workshops, highlighting what I learned and how these experiences can enrich anyone interested in spiritual development.
Workshop with Pietro Politan at Charnwood Spiritualist Church
In February, I attended a workshop led by Pietro Politan at Charnwood Spiritualist Church in Derby. Pietro’s approach combined practical exercises with deep discussions about the nature of psychic mediumship. One key takeaway was his emphasis on trusting intuition as the foundation for connecting with spirits. He encouraged participants to quiet their minds and focus on subtle impressions rather than forcing messages.
During the workshop, we practiced receiving impressions through guided meditation and group exercises. Pietro demonstrated how to interpret symbols, feelings, and images that often appear during readings. His calm and patient teaching style helped attendees feel comfortable exploring their psychic abilities without judgment.
The workshop also covered ethical considerations in mediumship, such as respecting the privacy of spirit messages and maintaining clear boundaries. Pietro stressed that mediumship is not about entertainment but about offering comfort and guidance to those seeking connection with loved ones.
Paul Jacobs’ Workshop at Belper Spiritualist Church
In April, I joined another workshop led by Paul Jacobs at Belper Spiritualist Church. Paul’s session focused on developing trance mediumship, a form where the medium allows a spirit to communicate through them directly. This workshop was more experiential, with participants observing trance demonstrations and learning techniques to enter trance states safely.
Paul explained the importance of preparation before trance mediumship work, including grounding exercises and setting clear intentions. He shared stories from his own practice, illustrating how trance mediumship can reveal detailed messages that bring healing and clarity to recipients.
The workshop highlighted the balance between control and surrender in trance mediumship. Paul reminded us that while the medium must remain aware, they also need to allow the spirit to express itself freely. This balance ensures messages are authentic and meaningful.
Trance Demonstration by Eric Cargill
Later in May, I attended another trance demonstration by Eric Cargill, supported by Gerald O’Hara. This event took place at Charnwood spiritualist church in Derby and offered a live example of trance mediumship in action. Eric entered a deep trance state and conveyed messages from spirits with clarity and compassion.
Watching Eric’s demonstration along with his spirit guide Lucy Williams helped me appreciate the skill and discipline required for trance mediumship. His ability to maintain connection while channeling complex information was impressive. Gerald O'Hara also a medium teacher and author, prominent researcher and historian on the Spiritualist movement assisted Eric during his session who both reinforced that practice makes perfect the collaborative nature of mediumship, where mediums often work together to validate messages and provide a fuller experience for the audience.
Eric's demonstration also showed how spirit communication can bring comfort to those grieving or seeking answers. Several attendees shared how the messages resonated with their personal experiences, emphasising the healing power of mediumship.
Practical Lessons from the Workshops
These workshops offered practical tools and insights for anyone interested in clairvoyant mediumship or spiritual growth:
Developing Intuition
Trusting subtle impressions and symbols is crucial. Exercises like meditation and journaling can help sharpen intuitive skills.
Ethical Practice
Mediumship requires respect for privacy and sensitivity toward those receiving messages. Clear boundaries protect both medium and client.
Preparation for Trance Work
Grounding, intention-setting, and self-awareness are essential before entering trance states to ensure safe and effective communication.
Collaboration Among Mediums
Working with other mediums can enhance message accuracy and provide richer experiences for audiences.
Healing Through Spirit Communication
Mediumship offers comfort and guidance, helping people process grief and find clarity in difficult times.
Final Thoughts on Spiritual Connections
Attending these workshops deepened my appreciation for the skill, dedication, and compassion involved in psychic mediumship. Each medium brought a unique style and focus, yet all shared a commitment to authentic spirit communication and ethical practice. For those curious about exploring spiritual connections, participating in workshops like these can provide valuable experience and insight.
If you feel drawn to psychic mediumship or want to understand more about how spirit communication works, consider attending local workshops or demonstrations. Engaging with experienced mediums and practicing your own intuitive skills can open new doors to personal growth and healing.
Exploring spiritual connections is a journey that requires openness, patience, and respect. These workshops showed me that mediumship is not just about messages from the beyond, but about building trust in unseen guidance and learning to listen with heart and mind.
That is why I will be hosting again a another monthly Collective Closed Circle in the autumn (date TBC nearer the time) to facilitate a private development group for up to 6 people, to gather monthly to develop physic abilities, intuition and spiritual communication.
